I am a stranger here myself (villanelle)

I AM STRANGER HERE MYSELF (A villanelle for the Horse-nation)

Oh yes I am a stranger in some foreign land
Where the meaningless chattering of people persists
And all the while they expect me to understand

One day’s offer of love, so quickly like sand
Passes through fingers, once saddled, dismissed
Oh yes I am a stranger in some foreign land

Metal is mine to accept and with softness their hands
Or aids that get stronger, when the intention is missed
And all the while they expect me to understand

And should in my stride I not lead as per plan
There’s a spur which acts to remediate this
Oh yes I am a stranger in some foreign land

And now some cowboys have cooked up a plan
To rephrase their messages I might otherwise miss
And all the while they expect me to understand

And now they have ropes and sticks in their hands
Chasing me, chasing me, to bond with their wish
Oh yes I am a stranger in some foreign land
And all the while they expect me to understand
